WORDS DO HURT End the R word

This old post is what I wrote last Augest. It is not about the r word but it goes right along with this topic

I remember when I was little and my dad told me that "Sticks and Stones can break your bones but words can never hurt you. Well I don't think it is true... Wait let me rephrase that it is . Princess and book gal have a easy cry baby that would me. My dad says that I am too sensitive and tells me to ignore it. That is the bad advice that you can give a victim of bullying disabled or not .Still don't believe me okay here comes a story

In sixth grade my mom and dad through that I should have one class in special education called RSP. it basically is a study hall with a special needs teacher who helps you do the work. Well in Sixth grade I had a guy in my class who always said I was a loner and no one played with me. I told the teacher and she said to ignore it because he was from a bad family and needed attention. Well I never could ignore it and I spent the remainder of my first middle school year yelling at him back and froth.

The school thorough I had behavior problems so in seventh grade I was put into a RSP room with a strict teacher and mean kids. Man did I hate that class. There were three other kids in the class who teased me and like the guy in 6th grade all of them came from middle class families trying to make ends meet. What made it worse was that there was a nice RSP room with good kids who teacher was nice. I also was the only one with my teachers on my RSP teacher case load The nice one had the others.

On Wednesdays were the hardest day of the week. The teacher had meetings that day and we were under supervision of a sub. One peculiar Wednesday a girl said that the entire 7th grade hated me. She was training for a peer helper and the class was talking about me and how much they hated me. My aid talked to me and sat by me during my next class and we talked to the head teacher(Who is a great guy that i had for math the next year) who told me that they had been talking about how to treat someone with a disability and my name came up. Someone did not learn their lesson.

Words do hurt and schools need to be aware of this and help those getting teased and don't tell them to ignore it . Think about it this way if your son/ daughter fell and scarped his/her knee you wipe it up right. Well bullying is like that only the cut is invisible It's a cut to the child self esteem

palsy and politics

Today is Cerebral Palsy awareness day. CP is one of the disabilities I have. It makes it hard for me to talk well.

On a darker note Obama made a bad remark concerning the SO. I am in our local chapter here in California. I am going to give him the benefit of the drought. I
am not saying making fun of people with disabilities is OK because it is not. I saw the show and I think he made a mistake. He said his was sorry and i as a athlete accept it. I hope he dose not make me regret me giving him the benefit of the drought, because next time I will not be so forgiving. I also think he should take Sarah up on her offer to come to teach him how to get a strike.

A great song with even better pictures

this relates to the post below. My favorite pic is the transition from MLK to Obama. We watched a movie not to long a go about Steven harking. He can only talk with a computer but he is so smart. He is a perfect example of do not judge a book by it's cover.

Look how far americans have came

I got this via email on thursday from my mom it comes at a perfect time since we are studying the Civil rights movement in school right now,

A Black girl escorted to school - 1960

On November 14, 1960, nearly 49 years ago, 6 year old Ruby Bridges faced hostile crowds, and had to be escorted by U.S. Marshalls , because she was the first black child to attend previously all-white William Frantz Elementary School in New Orleans , Louisiana . Ruby was 6 years old. (The Great Norman Rockwell created the painting above depicting that event.)

That morning, she had only been told by her mother that she was going to be attending a new school that day and 'had better behave.' Little did little Ruby know that she would be bombarded with jeers and even death threats; and that she would end up being the sole child in her first grade class because all the other children were kept home by their parents. All because Ruby was Black.

A Black girl escorted to school - 2009

On January 5, 2009, nearly 49 years after Ruby attended her school, 7 year old Sasha Obama, faced cheering schoolmates as she is escorted by her Mother and U. S. Secret Service Agents to Sidwell Friends Elementary School in Washington , DC . Her Mother, the current First Lady of the United States of America , had Secret Service escort because Sasha's daddy is now the 44th President of the United States , Barack Obama.

Sunday grains of gratiude

Well blogger world this week started off good but ended bad. School has been changeling and my worst fear came true I got sent to the dean's office (or for a word with better connotation the principles office) by Ms H. I am not sure how I ended up there. I mean I know how I got sent out the Frost time into the hall way but from back inside the class to the dean is a different s story. I think what happened was I shut down after I though a bunch of kids were laughing at me. Ms H said i am not a baby sister and kicked me to the dean. School is to marrow and guess who heart is pounding so much as I typed this AZ. It has gotten so bad that I am thinking about going to sped. I do not know if this will play out well;however, I am scared to face Ms H alone, I will do it though it will just be tense
now that's that is out of the way lets here what went semi good for the baby or I mean AZ.

1 Career Day: This is a event that hap pends every two years. I went to a teacher, news reporter( the closest thing I have came close to a movie star) EA games and Pixar guy. I enjoyed the Pixar guy even though he did not tell me anything about toy story 3. princess went to a vet,FBI agent, bio tech, and Dr . (She might be flowering in my parents footsteps)

2 I won knockout game at b ball. Man that practice was something I needed. A chance to get away and have fun,

3 behaved well in the test prep. Maybe It had to do with the fact it was on a Saturday Morning.

4 My bike. I rode down to our local Safeway by myself when my parents were not home. I brought some milk and grand crackers . there were girl scouts selling cookies with there parents all of whom watched my bike wile I went into to buy the grocers. i came out but had misplaced some money so I ran home to get some. Being a good advocate volunteer to help the Brownies earn a disability awareness badge and gave them my high school. Hopefully everything will work out so I can continue my plan to host disability awareness days at both schools,

5 Read a book that got me back on my feet. I will post more about it soon

6 Mom is back home

7 book gal had fun at a torment today. I think she did well but am not sure. princess got second in her club VV last weekend

My ability has to be self advocacy. I am a great self advocate . I remember when I was in grade 2 . I was new to the school coming from a Private school ( for pre-k to 1 ). I always talked openly about my disability. In fact I remember having me teacher call me to the front of the class room and I stood with her as she explained . I recently got a chance to represent my school for disability awar eness. I hope to be a advocate in training one day. I think i make a good one don't you.
